Our unit was installed last Dec. No problem until I shut the heat pump if September since temperature didn't require air or heat. Oct 15I turned the air on as it was hot and humid in the house. Instant smell of sweating dirty sneakers.

I installed 2 units goodman 95 high per gas 14seer ac one main house 3ton var.speed this is the one with the bad Oder I have cleen the eve. Coil and use Oder control tablets also haveinstalled HV light in the air handler do not have the Oder when the heat is own only when the ac is runing? The other is for bed rooms 95 high per. Gas 14seer 2.5 tons 2speed not the var speed this one has no Oder ? Installed in the same year help !,,

THIS IS WHAT IS CALL "DIRTY SOCK SYNDROME" WHICH IS CAUSED BY A FUNGUS ON THE EVAP COIL. COILS NEED TO BE CLEANED AND FOGGED OR AT THE VERY LEAST, IF EVAP COIL IS ACCESSABLE, SPRAY IT WITH LYSOL, BLEACH OR ANYTHING THAT WILL KILL FUNGUS AND MICRO ORGANISMS. ID RECOMMEND REPEATING THIS WITH EVERY FILTER CHANGED TO KEEP THIS FUNGI AT BAY.
