Sears Kenmore central air conditioner units

Had a Kenmore split system, AC and furnace, made by International Comfort Products, installed April 2008. Work was performed so poorly the job didn't pass municipal code enforcement inspection until further visits by the installer to correctly install.


2 years later (April, 2010) I am told, by a real AC company, that the compressor is damaged because of a bad expansion valve on the initial install.

Now I have no idea if I am screwed or if the manufacturer will honor a warranty. I won't let Sears near me ever again. even to rectify this. They had their chance and put me off them for good.

The worst A/C NEW

NEVER EVER BUY SEARS KENMORE CENTRAL AIR. THEY ARE THE WORST!!! Ours had the coils replaced, good thing we had the extended warranty, we would of have to buy a new A/C... Do yourself a favour buy Lennox or American Standard. Do not buy Kenmore anything!!

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES NEW

I first requested a service rep online and did not receive response. Then I called and made an appt. for a service rep to check my a.c. The rep came out and gave me a quote for REPAIR ONLY 3X other quotes I had received. When I asked for a quote for A NEW UNIT. I was told that would require another service call. I was charged $80 for the visit for REPAIRS ONLY.

This is deceptive practices on Sears part.

I will never buy another Sears Kenmore air conditioner. We have had to had it serviced every year for the last 7 years. Each time it has cost $200 and up.

Bad Kenmore product NEW

We have bought many Sears products we never will again nor will our family. Don’t ever buy a Kenmore product!! We purchased a new Sears Kenmore furnace and central air conditioning unit in 2005. We had a 7 year service plan and in 2012 the last year of the plan, we turned on the air conditioner and it would run a few minutes them switch off. We called the service department and they sent a technician out to service it. We were told we had a Freon leak and he refilled it with the Freon and stop leak fluid. We were told this should take care of the problem. Should they not have FIXED the leak? This year we turned on the air conditioner and it began to do the same thing. We called the service department and were told that they would give us a $65 credit for the service call and parts were to be covered, and that we would have to pay for labor. The technician came out, walked into the house, walked in the backyard looked at the unit told us it needed Freon, it has a leak, the same problem. He did not even turn the unit on. He told us it would be around $200 to fill the unit again. We called back the service department to complain. They told us they only had a 90 day warranty on their work. We questioned as to why the problem was not fixed properly while we were still under warranty. We asked to talk to a manager we were put in contact with an on duty manager. We were told by her “we can’t help what some of our techs do”. Really don’t they represent your company? We were told we would be receiving a bill for a service call and $65 would not apply and if we did not pay it would go on our credit report. We asked to speak with someone else and she told us she was as high as we could go. We asked for the corporate address and phone number. She gave the address but refused to give us a phone number. Our first central air conditioner lasted for 18 years this Kenmore product lasted for 7 years!!!!! The reason we went with Kenmore was because we were told it was a high quality product. We decided to pay the extra money and get the Kenmore product. Paid top dollar that was mistake.

Sears repair nightmare - AGAIN !!

We have a 5 ton Kenmore AC. It has broken 5 times in the 7 years we have had it. Always in summer. The chore to get it fixed is a nightmare to say the least. The last time we had no AC for a month and lost a pet due to the heat.

This time it broke on Monday, repair guy was here on Tuesday and found the problem. Had to order parts because they NEVER carry the parts for a 5 ton. Was given a special # to call to set up appointment when parts came in.

Called that number on Thursday and was given an "emergency repair" date of Aug 8th. Twenty days for an emergency repair? Seriously?? Threw a fit and have called head office in IL plus several others.

This is a 15 minute (TOPS!) repair job, and the best they can do is 20 days? Warranty on AC is up next month and in no way are we renewing the warranty.

I will NEVER buy another thing from Sears again and if I ever see a picket line in front of Sears I will gladly join them!

Unlike everybody else here. Im very satisfied with my kenmore ac system. It is awesome & saves me so much money. My installers were clean, knowledgable & personable. My project manager was awesome. We bought the unit on a Tuesday, had it installed wednesday morning, inspectted & passed on Thursday! Sears rocks!

Sears kenmore central air Had install central air on 2005 and do not been use.Work was so bad that we still arguing with them (sears) tofix it they dont respect the clients, but one day they will fixed the law is on our side.
