Older Central Cooling Air Conditioner

by Jackie
(North Royalton OH)

When I remove the filter I can see the compressor has a hole in it. Is there a price range that I should be charged? Is it something I can replace myself?

The local company in my area charges quite a bit for cleaning, but as far as I can see there is nothing to clean.

The central ac cools okay but there is an odor, probably mold or mildew when I run the air or heat.

Thank you,

Yes, thank you. I meant the condensor, not the compressor. I can see where there is a hole in it. I am going to call a heating and cooling company. I know that the condensor needs to be replaced and I will have them clean the coils?

Hey, Jackie

I'm at lost here.

“When I remove the filter I can see the compressor has a hole in it. Is there a price range that I should be charged? Is it something I can replace myself?”

I don’t know what you’re referring to.
The compressor has a hole!! You meant the filter? To clean the outdoor and the indoor unit, you probably be look at 1 and 3 hundred.

The tech cleans the coil by the way. Dirty coil means not efficient central air conditioner unit. I hope I answer your question.
