How to read and decode Your Lennox central air conditioner units

Lennox model Number:

model and serial number:
Model number: hs16-261v-4p
Serial number: 5188c049

You miss a number in the serial number. It supposed to be 5188C01049.

Start with Serial Number: 5188C01049

(51) -- The first two digits is Div or Division.

51 is Columbus
53 is Des Moines
54 is Ft. Worth
55 is Heatcraft
56 is Stuttgart
58 is Marshalltown
63 is Toronto

(88) – The second two digits are the years. 1988

(C) – The letter is the month and it begins with A and it skips the letter “I”.

Here are the full lists:

A = January
B = February
C = March
D = April
E = May
F = June
G = July
H = August
“I” It was skipped
J = September
K = October
L = November
M = December

The last 5 numbers are serial No. I’m not sure what it does.

Decode Lennox Model Number:

Model number: hs16-261V-4p

HS is the High side Condensing Unit
16 is the series

261 is the capacity Tons. It approximately 26,000 cooling capacity (2 tons)

The letter V. I can’t seem to find information on this.

Base on the Lennox decode books, it has two meanings:

First – Expansion valve unit for cooling mode or
Second - The gas furnace or heat exchanger are special coated. (I could be wrong on the V meaning.)

-4p

4 is the revision number. This basically means that they had made changed to the condenser unit 4 times. For example, different wire color or different contactor...etc

The letter P is 208/230v 1phase -60Hz.

Here full lists:

A is 230 1phase – 60Hz

B is 208 1phas - 60Hz

C is 230/240 1phase - 60Hz

D is 208/220 3phase- 60Hz

E is 220/240 3phase- 60Hz

F is 440/480 3phase- 60Hz

G is 460 3phase- 60Hz

H is 550/600 3phase- 60Hz

J is 575v 3phase -60Hz

K is 208/230 1phase -60Hz

L is 208/240 3phase -60Hz

M is 380/420 3phase -60Hz

N is 220/240 3phase -60Hz

P is 208/230v 1 phase -60 Hz

Q is 230 3phase -60Hz

R is 208 3phase -60Hz

S is 550 3phase -60Hz

T is 220/240 1phase -60Hz

U is 208/240 1phase -60Hz

W is 200/220 1phase -60Hz

X is 277 1phase -60Hz

Y is 208/230v 3 phase -60 Hz.

This is the old name system. New Model and Series number could mean different.

As far as I am concerned the Lennox is useless, the remote is like a child's toy so small which is difficult to read, the fan speed is as low as it gets, so noisy can't hear the TV. I inherited the machine when I bought the property, It is far too big for the lounge room,that would be a fault of the engineer who installed it. The remote Model R71A/E Rated voltage 3VDC, and I don't have a manual, Unit Model No LNE 065E1. I had an A/con guy to have a look at it, and he said lots of problems with this manufacturer, can't change remote and no manual !!!!! I rest my case.
