Lemon of a Lennox Central Air Conditioner

My Lennox central air conditioner is 6 years old and broken. Why?! It was a lemon from the beginning.

The first year we discovered the central ac unit had the fan installed upside-down. The ac unit turned totally white from frost and discovered it was installed with the fan upside-down, Why?

the fan was turned right side but didn't last long so a new fan was installed. 5 years later the fan nor the compressor are working.

Why?? It will be a cold day in hell for me to buy another Lennox central ac unit.

Lennox is drawing my income NEW
by: Shirley Parmley

First couple of years it worked good. Now every season change it’s any where from 300 to 1000 dollars. This year winter of 2022 they tell me another 1000 to start. Where do I go for help!

Horrible horrible experience NEW

DON’T BUY A LENNOX AC. After buying an expensive new Lennox AC, 3 1/2 years later it broke! Need a coil because the coil was substandard and had a manufacturing defect. It was under warranty; however, LABOR COSTS WERE HIGH AND WE NEEDED TO PAY THE LABOR. After the installation of the new coil, it failed after several weeks AGAIN, and caused the condensation to dump into our ceiling causing it to accommodate water into the ceiling and leak through the ceiling. This cause major staining, and water damage so here we go again. The nightmare is still on going and repairs are still not complete. DON’T EVER BUY LENNOX.

screwed
by: Katharine

We had a commercial LENNOX HVAC Unit installed in January of 2014 and by July we were already replacing the condenser fan motor. That same year the unit was repeatedly tripping and a technician ended up showing a Diner employee how to reset it. I (property manager) ended up supplying them with a wrench to be able to get the panel off when needed to reset the Unit when I wasn't there when it happened .... the frequency of it tripping was "about once a week" .
At some point someone "disabled" the high pressure switch which was to solve the tripping and hopefully wouldn't cause any other problems.
Then there was evidence of a leak being first recognized last year and now ... in it's sixth year and far from it's stated life span ... there is an estimated $4,000 repair to install a new Evaporator Coil. It's obviously a lemon and I am now reading that there had been a class action lawsuit concerning defective evaporator coils and we were never told about it.
I would like to add signage to the location to NOT trust the industry. With such low quality and little trust today, what are our alternatives!

Lemon NEW
by: Anonymous

I purchased a Lennox unit in July of this year. The company has been out at least 7 times. 3 defective parts had to be replaced and numerous leaks. The company is basically telling me that Lennox does not replace lemon units. I'm ready to go to the news stations to make people aware of this awful company.

No more Lennox for us! NEW
by: Bbswpb1

This is the second ac we put in through Service Experts. The first one gave us very little in the way of problems. And if we had a problem, someone came right out and fixed it. The unit we have now is about five years old, and we have had unending grief with it. And, when we call for service, we always have to do a song and a dance. And besides the multitude of calls we’ve had that just took one visit, we’ve had at least four, and possibly more, that have taken about a week to fix. Think South Florida in summer. The coil has been replaced twice - had to wait a week for the part. The motor blew out in September - four days to get the part. Now there is a problem with the blower not communicating with the condenser. It’s been five days so far, and we have no idea when it’ll be repaired as the whole lot of parts have been pulled for bad manufacturing. I think .we deserve a new unit gratis. And now, when it’s getting cold, we’ll have no heat.

your unit is too small
by: Anonymous

If your house is 28000 square feet like you say, your 4 ton unit is too small. Therefore it is working harder to cool all that square footage. In Vegas they install 4 ton units to cool a square footage of only 1500 square feet. You need a commercial unit for a house that size.

coils.

Had to replace evaporator coil after just 1 1/2. Sure, Lennox hvac has a ten year warranty, however it only covers the part. The labor is going to cost me well over $500!

Never again...

lennox ac model hs-26-030-6p

This central air unit was installed by the builder in Dec. 2005 and since then the outside coil was leaking and had to be replaced. Lennox company provided the part but the installation cost me $700.00.

Since then I have had to spend another $ 220.00 on a start up capacitor. My neighbors unit was installed at the same time, and they have had to replace their whole unit. I would not consider buying a Lennox HVACs. Lennox is living off its old reputation and now they are making junk. Don't buy a Lennox. .
