Is it worth fixing

by James W
(Paris, Texas)

I have had this central air conditioner unit for 16 years now I have started having trouble is it worth fixing. I have had to add freon two times this year, and a friend said that nine years was the life of a central ac unit is the right.

If you live in an area that is very hot, then your friend is not far off. If the temp is over 105 degrees then the unit is working above its designed temp and will over work its self and that will cut down the life of the central ac unit. Other wise you could get 15 to 20 years out of it.

But remember to have it properly serviced two times a year, as if you are servicing your car every 3-5000 miles for peak operation.
Be careful of the service company you choose so you get a professional service done.
