Bryant Ac Unit Broken Down Within 3 Yrs

by Josh
(Decatur, AL)

I simply want to warn those considering purchasing a Bryant AC unit. I just paid $631 in repair costs to a Hvac unit that has been running for only 3 years.

A part was covered by warranty but that was it. I have complained to Bryant and got no assistance. I will never consider buying another product from them. When you purchase a high cost system you should get more than 3 years of performance. I'm absolutely disgusted.

Bryants are horrid NEW
by: Sweaty in south tx

Friends dont let friends buy Bryant. Seems like every time i turn around this equipment is failing and needs service. Two units, multiple service calls from year one and every year after. These units are only 3 1/2 years old. Seems like 20 years with all the problems. This equipment is junk.

installation is everything! NEW
by: MikeD

any brand name system is ONLY AS GOOD AS THE GUY WHO INSTALLS IT! don't hate on Bryant, hate on the crappy company you bought it from. I have had a great experience with my Bryant system and I give all the credit to the team that installed it and the team that maintains it!

Bryant Takes A Dump at 5 Years NEW
by: Gail in Miami

Very very disappointed with my Bryant Unit only 6 years old and now the air handler motor is shot 630$ to replace plus another 355$ in labor.

As far as I'm concerned Bryant shouldn't be selling a so called 10year warranty when their product can't even live up to half of that.

No more Bryant's for Me Buyer Be Ware!!!!!!!!!!!

bryant products NEW
by: SEMichy

I know a Bryant and all brand service guy. He says he gets
a three to one Bryant fail compared to the others. Something
about material integrity and install know how. Sooner or later
the parts people will check those warranty parts and start
back charging the dealer for inferior work.

Best In The West A/C
by: Richard

It is best to have your central air unit serviced twice a year. If you had this system installed 2 yrs ago and surprised that it needed a service after 2 years of operation, I would not be surprised if the filter was not plugged.

Bryant is a very good piece of equipment and will last for years if properly install and serviced properly.
Good luck
Richard

2 Service Calls
by: Anonymous

Problems with new air conditioners are usually related to the installation procedure. Units that leak are often not properly checked for leaks when welded in. Adding refrigerant with home air conditioning systems is unexceptionable unless the leak is found and repaired.

The practice of constantly adding refrigerant to unis is a death sentence to it, and frankly the business is run amuck with this irresponsible and careless practice.

your equipment no matter the brand is not to blame. Find a quality contractor to work with. Check all of their credentials, and ask them to provide you with proof.

Do background checks on them. It's relatively easy. The air conditioner is an expensive long term investment in your home and can be costlier in the future if you let the wrong company do it.

Bryant Central Ac Unit

Bought a new Bryant central air conditioner in 2007, needed 2 service calls this summer.

After a few year there condenser may be shot. Still under their 10 year warranty. Need coolant added. Shocked to hear it needed service so soon.

Is 2 Years all I'm suppose to get out of this?
by: Georges Godbout

4 days ago my 2 year old Bryant AC unit decided to take a break, so I called Reliable Heating to come and fix it. They sent someone over to fix the problem.

The technician looked at it, tested it and found a clogged furnace filter and AC unit itself needed cleaning which he could do for another $90.00, or said that I could do it and save the $90.00, but otherwise the unit was fine. So when my wife called me to ask me what to do, I said that I would clean the unit when I came home.

So I did, then started up the unit and it ran for 2 hours non stop and the house was no cooler. So I stopped it and called them up yesterday again. The same guy came back and tested it again and told me that the unit was fine it just needed to get cleaned with water.

Well, I said you can try but I doubt that it would make any difference. So he did, then started up the unit and after a bit tried to get me to believe that the unit was cooling, and it was going to be fine. I then touched the pipe from the AC to the furnace and it was cool, but not cold like it should be.

I told him about it and he said it would take a while to cool off, and I should give it time, so I said ok we'll see, and we all left and left the AC running.

My wife came back home about 3 hours later, and said she didn't notice much difference, and left the unit run for another hour, and it ran non stop. So, she called me and told me what was happening. So I called Reliable again, and the receptionist put Adrian (the owner) on the phone and he basically said that the unit is doing what it is suppose to do, but it could take until the next morning to get the humidity out of the house.

Well, I know myself, I am very blunt and quite insulting, so I didn't say anything then, but it is now 14 hours after that service call, and if the unit was doing what it was suppose to do, it would be freezing in here by now. So, I'm giving them another call in the morning, and if I get the same kind of BS, I'm not holding back this time.

I will tell them that I am going to get another unit installed, and will be giving them a call to pick up their so called good unit, and while they're here, I will invite them in so they can see how an AC unit should work

Expensive maintenance
by: Clague

Bought a Carrier heat pump Oct 2009. Two compressors blown and replaced. 10 year warranty only covers parts. Service contract is $361 per year, negates savings by buying high efficiency unit. The new refrigerant runs at much higher pressures
