Bad Tempstar Heat Pump

by Barbara C
(Phoenix, AZ USA)

It seems I am having the same issues as the other reviewers.I have had nothing but trouble with mine since day one. I have a heat pump. The first year was the heat would not ignite.

The indoor fan only blows when it first starts not cold air. I have spent over the years over $600 in repairs bills without it being repaired.
Last year the repair said the replace the TX valve and now the distributor that installed the Heat Pump says they MAY be my problem now and wants $560 to replace that.

I have contacted the manufacturer and they are not any help only say because it is not under warranty they can't help me. I say it was a faulty unit from the beginning. I did not choose this central ac unit it was new on the house when I bought it.

I am a retired senior and cannot afford to continue to pay the repairs bills required especially since it is never repaired.
My place is about 890 Sq Ft and the central ac will not cool the front part of the house and there is hardly any air from the vent.

check the capacitor outside in the unit.. if it looks like a frozen soda can (bulging) then the capacitor is bad.

Outdoor unit does not turn on
by: Quinn

I just moved into a new place. When I turn the thermostat on for the central air conditioning unit, the indoor blower is all that works.

It is a Tempstar 5000 High Efficiency, model no. ca5530vkd1.

I checked the fuses and they are good.
